“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” – Albert Einstein
My Philosophy of Teaching
How I teach
I am passionately dedicated to inspiring students to view themselves as capable learners full of greatness. I do this by utilizing Teacher Artistry and Appreciative Leadership to focus on positive successes in learning. Combining these approaches with scientific, research-based techniques enables me to positively impact students’ motivation to learn in a genuine, inspiring, respectful, and caring manner.

Why I teach
I value the thoughts and ideas of our young people and embrace the saying that we should “teach our children well.” I believe all students can succeed. I believe all students should be treated in a fair and consistent manner. I believe all students should be actively involved in learning. I believe that parents, students, and teachers should work together as a team. I believe all students learn differently and should be taught in a way that is suitable to their learning style. I believe parents and teachers should welcome mistakes as a part of the learning process. I believe it is my responsibility as a dedicated educator to continually self-reflect and self-assess while investing my talents and gifts into being the most excellent teacher/facilitator I can be.

What I teach
I rely heavily on Six Truths of Learning that guide experiences in my classroom each day and serve as the foundation upon which all content-area learning can be built. These powerful philosophies from the Workshop Way© are highly effective in creating a classroom environment that allows all students to be successful &confident in the learning process.
We are free to make mistakes while learning.
It is intelligent to ask for help.
We do not have to know everything today.
It takes courage to be willing to risk.
Everyone has a right to a time to think.
We respect the rights of others.
